Lynx guard Aerial Powers will be sidelined indefinitely because of a left hamstring injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Lynx set to add guard Layshia Clarendon with Aerial Powers out
Powers' hamstring injury will keep her out for an indefinite time.
According to league sources, veteran guard Layshia Clarendon was on the way to Minneapolis on Wednesday to sign with the Lynx. Clarendon, if vaccinated for COVID-19, would need to record two negative tests before being cleared for play. That would mean missing Friday's game in Seattle but being ready for Sunday's game with Connecticut at Target Center.
Powers' injury is not on the same leg as the injury that ended her season early last year.
But it will likely keep her out longer than a week.
The 5-9 Clarendon, 30, has played eight WNBA seasons going into this year and has career averages of 7.3 points and 3.0 assists in 21.7 minutes per game.
Clarendon played one game with the New York Liberty before being waived because of a roster crunch at guard. Clarendon averaged a career-high 11.5 points with 3.9 assists in 19 starts for the Liberty last season.
Powers averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists in three games with the Lynx this season.
