Madeline Island Music Camp celebrates its 30th with an Orchestra Hall concert
Tuesday: It's been 30 years since the Madeline Island Music Camp first convened on Lake Superior's South Shore to coach young people from across America and abroad in the art of chamber music making. To mark the anniversary and crown this summer's five-week residency, a special concert is being staged at Orchestra Hall, where pianist Wendy Chen, cellist Anthony Ross and violinist Jonathan Swartz — all faculty members at the camp — will perform music by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Rachmaninoff, abetted by two ensembles from the camp's Fellowship String Quartet program. (7:30 p.m. Tue., Target Atrium, Orchestra Hall, 11th St. and Nicollet Mall, Mpls. $30. 612-371-5656 or minnesotaorchestra.org)
