A man was shot to death Thursday night at a north Minneapolis barbershop, the city's third homicide in a little more than 24 hours.

He died inside Clientele Barber Shop at 707 N. 42nd Av. around 6:15 p.m., according to police spokesman Garrett Parten. Another man and a woman were wounded.

As investigators worked at the scene late Thursday, the front of the shop's windows appeared to have been sprayed by bullets.

Neighborhood residents gathered on the northern, eastern and western corners of N. 42nd Avenue, where police had blocked off access to the business. Some cried in each other's arms, sat together in truck beds or made phone calls informing others of the deadly gunfire.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, according to Parten. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the identity of the victim along with the nature and cause of his death.

The man's death marks the 66th homicide of the year, according to a Star Tribune database, and the second reported on Thursday.

In a separate incident, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of N. Glenwood Avenue at 8 p.m. Two men with gunshot wounds were taken to hospitals in critical condition, police said.

Earlier Thursday, a man was found fatally shot in an apartment in the 2000 block of N. Emerson Avenue, police said. And on Wednesday, 12-year-old London Bean was fatally shot in the Sumner-Glenwood neighborhood on the city's North Side.

Carlton County, just southwest of Duluth, hadn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate since Herbert Hoover in 1928. Trump snapped that nearly centurylong streak earlier this month.
