A man was fatally shot Sunday morning in a north Minneapolis residential alley.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 a.m. in the 5200 block of James Avenue, police said. No arrests have been announced.

Several incidents have been reported in this area in the past week, from a mugging to shootings, neighbors said.

Keisha Patterson, who lives several blocks away, stopped her car on James Avenue to talk with neighbors. "It doesn't usually happen over here," she said, adding that streets "in the 50s" are usually safe.

Authorities have not revealed details about the shooting or the man's identity.
