A man was shot and killed in an apartment in Winona, Minn., by one of two intruders demanding money, authorities said Monday.

The shooting occurred about 1 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Gilmore Avenue, police said.

Adam Tylor Fort, 31, was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel from a gunshot to the abdomen, police added.

The suspects fled west on Gilmore in a dark gray, four-door vehicle and remain at large, according to police.

"The initial investigation indicates that the victim was targeted by the suspects," a statement from police read. Witnesses reported that two men "entered the apartment and started to demand money," the statement continued.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the case to call authorities at 1-507-457-6302.
