A man was killed around dawn Tuesday in a south Minneapolis apartment, and another man has been arrested, authorities said.

Police were called shortly before 6 a.m. to the building in the 1800 block of 5th Avenue S. and arrived to find the 50-year-old man dead in the apartment, according to police.

One man was apprehended and others on the scene were interviewed by officers, said police spokesman John Elder, who added that no other suspects were being sought.

"There were no obvious signs of a weapon being used," Elder said. "This may end up being a situation of blunt-force trauma."

Authorities have yet to release identities of anyone involved or address a motive.

A member of the medical examiner's office arrived about 8:10 a.m. at the three-story brick building as a lone police officer sat in front in his squad car. The body was removed about 9 a.m.

A resident of the building said he was making breakfast about 3 a.m. and heard noise and music from what he figured was a party coming from across the hall in the third-floor apartment where the man was killed.

About two to three hours later, the 54-year-old man said, police came to his door and he told them he heard nothing unusual.
