Authorities on Sunday identified a man shot to death on an early afternoon in north Minneapolis.

Roderick A. Evans, 40, of Minneapolis, died at the scene of the shooting, outside in the 3700 block of N. 6th Street, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office. He was shot in the chest, the examiner's office added.

Sheriff's deputies in the area early Thursday afternoon heard the shots, pursued a vehicle fleeing the scene and arrested two people inside, police said. A third person in the car ran but was soon apprehended.

Several handguns were found in the car, police added.

Police said that among those apprehended was a man from Brooklyn Park who turned 20 years old on Saturday and a 17-year-old boy.

Authorities have yet to address the circumstances leading to the violence.
