Man charged with manslaughter in fatal St. Paul shooting
Police identified the victim as Jonathan Andrew Wade, 21.
The suspect, Damound Jahema Franks, 21, was charged via a warrant Friday. His three charges included manslaughter, illegally possessing a weapon and receiving stolen property.
Authorities identified the man fatally shot as Jonathan Andrew Wade.
Wade, 21, of St. Cloud, died at the scene of the shooting on the 90 block of W. Manitoba Avenue.
Police got a call about a shooting around 11 p.m. Officers arrived and found Wade suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead, said Sgt. Mike Ernster with St. Paul police.
A bullet grazed Franks' head. He was taken to Regions Hospital. His condition was not immediately known, Ernster said.
Wade's brother told police that Franks and Wade were playing with guns and pointing them at each other when the guns went off, according to the charges.
Andrea Marie Thomas, who police believe was in a relationship with Franks, was later arrested and charged with aiding an offender and aiding an accomplice to avoid arrest.
The charges allege that Franks' sister handed Thomas a backpack containing the guns and Thomas discarded the backpack in the bushes outside.
The St. Paul Police Department asked anyone with information to contact its Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
