Man shot, killed early Saturday in north Minneapolis

The victim was found in an alley in the 3500 block of Penn Avenue N.

A man in his 50s died early Saturday of an apparent gunshot wound in north Minneapolis, police said.

Police were called at about 5:30 a.m. to an alley in the 3500 block of Penn Avenue N., where they found the victim. Crime scene technicians processed the area and homicide detectives started an investigation, but no arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon.

Police said the Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the victim's name, along with the cause and nature of his death, at a later time.
