A 14-year-old Mankato girl died Thursday night after the tractor she was riding on hit a bump in Nicollet County and rolled into a ditch.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy from North Mankato and a friend, survived the crash with noncritical injuries.

The teens were heading westbound on Hwy. 99 on a tractor Thursday night around 10:40 p.m. when the vehicle lost control.

Madison A. Mendenhall was transported to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where she later died. Authorities said alcohol was not involved.
