Gophers men's basketball coach Richard Pitino has suspended forward Maurice Walker for the team's first six games for "a violation of university policy" according to a one-sentence press release.

Walker's suspension begins with Friday night's season opener against Lehigh.

No other details were given.

The 6-10 redshirt junior played in 30 games off the bench last season. He shed weight to get into shape for this season, and scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the Gophers' exhibition game with Concordia-St. Paul on Monday.
