Melissa Peterman, right, and Larissa Kokernot celebrated the success of "Fargo" back in 1997.
Melissa Peterman is getting back in the sitcom business. The Minnesota actress, who got a national profile from her bit part as one of the hookers in "Fargo" and later as Reba McEntire's comic foil in the TV series "Reba," will headline "Working Class," a family-oriented series about a blue-collar mom who moves her family to the suburbs.
The series is slated to begin in January on the Country Music Television network. Peterman has a longstanding relationship with the network, hosting stand-up specials and "The Singing Bee," CMT's No. 1-rated series.
Here's what Melissa had to say in an e-mail: "I'm thrilled to be a part of CMT's launch into the scripted comedy world. When I read the script, I knew it was the show I wanted to do. It's smart, funny and the subject matter is relatable. Some of the best shows on TV are currently on cable and I think CMT is in a great position to enter the game.
"I had a great run on 'Reba' and loved every minute of it, I've really missed doing a sitcom. This one feels right. I can't wait to get to work."
Peterman also dropped another bit of news: She recorded a comedy album in Minnesota last week for Big Machine Records, Taylor Swift's label. "I will keep u posted," she promised.
