Minnesota, ready for its close-up

New television series highlights great spots to visit around the state.

At the end of June, a new television series called "The Minnesota Traveler" will bring armchair travel to our state. The show focuses its lens on things charming, enticing or otherwise travel-worthy in Minnesota, from the Arctic Cat factory in Thief River Falls to the Mill City Farmers Market in Minneapolis, the lively Saturday market tucked between the Guthrie Theater and the Mill City Museum.
The show, produced by McCally-Lee Entertainment, will start airing Sunday, June 28, at 8:30 a.m. on Fox Sports North and Fox Sports Wisconsin. Episodes will re-air Wednesdays at 8 a.m., and Fridays (time not yet set).
The series of 13 episodes will feature different Minnesota communities throughout the state and showcase unique travel destinations and tourist attractions — all brought to you by the perky host, Jennifer Mergen, a native of Farming, Minn.
It's all very high-energy, tinged with a touch of advertorial-like enthusiasm. But I'm guessing the show will get even armchair travelers off the couch.
Episodes will be available at the show's website after they air. Find it here.
