Gophers diver Sarah Bacon placed eighth on the 3-meter board (329.05) after the sophomore from Indianapolis won the 1-meter event the day before.
Minnesota's 200 medley relay placed sixth (1:36.03), giving the Gophers 134 total points, good enough for eighth place into Saturday, the final day of the national meet.
U beats No. 7 TCU
The Gophers baseball team upset No. 9 Texas Christian 6-3 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The heart of the batting order did most of the damage for Minnesota. No. 4 and 5 hitters Toby Hanson and Micah Coffey were both 3-for-4 and No. 6 hitter Cole McDevitt was 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Starter Reggie Meyer pitched 6⅔ innings for the Gophers (13-7), giving up three runs on eight hits. Brett Schulze got the win by getting one out. Freshman Max Meyer pitched two scoreless innings for his fifth save.
Lizak still going
Gophers 125-pound wrestler Ethan Lizak won four matches on Friday in the NCAA Championships in Cleveland to assure himself of at least a sixth-place finish. He was the national runner-up a year ago but lost in the second round this year on the first day.
Lizak, a junior from Schnecksville, Pa., got a five-point decision, a major decision, a technical fall and a pin in his next four matches.
Next Lizak will face Lehigh's Darian Cruz, who beat him 6-3 in the title match a year ago.

• The Gophers softball team lost 3-0 to New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. The Aggies (12-12) scored two runs in the second and one in the fifth against Amber Fiser, who pitched a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts. Second baseman MaKenna Partain was 2-for-3 for Minnesota (15-11).
• The Gophers women's tennis team defeated Maryland 6-1 to improve to 2-0 in the Big Ten. Caroline Ryba of Minnesota beat Eva Alexandrova 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4) at No. 1 singles.
• The Gophers men's golf team was in 13th place at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. Thomas Longbella shot an even-par 72 to lead the team.
• The Gophers women's golf team, led by Muyu Wu's 2-over 74, was tied for 12th place after the opening round of the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz.
• Augsburg basketball forward Collin Olmscheid, a junior from Buffalo, was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III All-America second team.
• Omaha's Tyler Vesel, a senior forward from Rochester, was named the winner of the NCHC's senior scholar-athlete award.
• Katie Bourk, an assistant coach for the Augustana women's basketball team, was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Thirty Under 30 honoree list for the 2017-18 season.
