The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating two fatal crashes that occurred Monday, including one involving a bicyclist.

The first happened in Monticello, in Wright County. A semitrailer truck pulling a side dump trailer struck a bicyclist at the top of the off ramp from westbound Interstate 94 to Hwy. 25 at 7:43 a.m., the patrol said. The truck was turning north on Hwy. 25 when the crash occurred.

The 71-year-old Monticello man on the bicycle died at the scene. His name has not been released.

In Dakota County, patrol officers and sheriff's deputies were investigating another fatal crash on Hwy. 316 near 200th Street between Hastings and Miesville, where an SUV driver died in a collision with a semi. Hwy. 316 in Goodhue and Dakota counties was closed as investigators did their work, MnDOT said.

Further details of both crashes had not been released as of late Monday.
