Wild's preseason schedule set; Hockey Day Minnesota matchups revealed

The Stars, Blackhawks and Avalanche will be the Wild's preseason foes both at home and on the road.

The Wild will play the Blackhawks, Avalanche and Stars twice each during the NHL preseason, the team announced Friday.

Games at Xcel Energy Center will be against Colorado on Thursday, Sept. 28; against Chicago on Saturday, Sept. 30; and against Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Road games in the preseason are at Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 24; at Dallas on Tuesday, Sept. 26; and at Chicago on Thursday, Oct. 5.

The NHL regular season schedule is expected to be released Tuesday, the day before the first round of the draft in Nashville.

• The Wild signed goalie Hunter Jones to a one-year, two-way contract. A second round pick in 2019, the 22-year-old Jones played 38 games for the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL last season and one game with the Iowa Wild of the AHL.

• Hockey Day in Minnesota will be Jan. 27, 2024 at the Warroad Athletic Complex. Lakeville North will face Warroad in a high school girls game at 9:30 a.m., followed by a boys game between Moorhead and Wayzata at 1 p.m. and a boys game between Warroad and Roseau at 4:30 p.m.

• The Timberwolves will play New Orleans in the first game of the NBA summer league at 3:30 p.m. July 7 in Las Vegas, a game that will be televised on NBA TV. Their other scheduled games in Las Vegas will be July 10 vs. Utah, July 12 vs. Atlanta and July 13 vs. Sacramento.

• Princeton's Tyler Wells signed a letter of intent to wrestle with the Gophers. Wells, projected to wrestle at 133 or 141 pounds in college, went 162-1 in his high school career, winning four individual state titles.
