Wild-Washington game preview
The Wild plays their second consecutive weekend day game at home, against the slumping Capitals.
Wild update: The Wild won 4-2 in their first matchup against the Capitals on Jan. 17. D Jared Spurgeon scored twice, and C Connor Dewar assisted on two goals. G Marc-Andre Fleury is 26-14-2 in his career vs. Washington. With a victory, the Wild would sweep the Capitals in consecutive seasons. They also went 2-0 in 2002-03.
Capitals update: Washington has dropped four of its last six games and is outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Overall, the Capitals are 5-4-1 in their past 10. LW Alex Ovechkin leads the team in scoring with 65 points. His 37 goals also pace Washington and with 817 in his NHL career, he ranks second all-time behind only Wayne Gretzky's 894. Ovechkin has 33 points in 20 career appearances vs. the Wild.
The Wild scored two goals late in the third period to tie the score against the Flames, completing a 2-0-1 road trip even though Kirill Kaprizov didn’t dress.
