Janet Swiecichowski, the Minnetonka school districts communications director, confirmed Friday via a prepared statement that an investigation is underway. Carr, 41, was placed on leave Wednesday, she said.
Assistant coach Ryan Martin will lead the team in Carr's absence, she said.
"Data privacy laws prohibit the district from commenting on the nature of the investigation until its completion," Swiecichowski wrote. The district said there is no timeline on when the investigation will be completed.
Before coming to Minnetonka last summer, Carr had led the Eden Prairie girls' basketball team for five years. He is also well-known for mentoring young basketball players and operates the 43 Hoops Basketball Academy classes and clinics, based in Hopkins.
Carr played with the Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics.
