Collin Fernandez scored in the second minute and 16-year-old Northfield native Mataeo Bunbury scored his first professional goal in the 63rd, and Sporting KC II beat MNUFC2 on Sunday in the MLS NEXT Pro league team's first home game at snowy Allianz Field.

MNUFC2 is Minnesota United's new developmental team. The team lost its opener 3-1 at North Texas on March 26.

Fernandez, the SKC captain, scored early when Julian Vazquez, attacking up the left side, found him wide open 9 yards out in the penalty area. Fernandez's shot trickled past goalkeeper Fred Emmings.

Bunbury, the brother of Nashville SC's Teal Bunbury and son of longtime pro Alex Bunbury, entered as a halftime substitute and scored his first professional goal after receiving a pass from Fernandez and sliding the ball past Emmings and into the net. Bunbury was part of Minnesota United's youth academy before leaving for Kansas City when Minnesota's academy shut down in 2020.
