Motorcyclist killed in Hastings crash is identified

A motorcyclist killed in a head-on crash Friday in Hastings was identified Saturday by the Minnesota State Patrol as 22-year-old Jacob Benesh. According to the patrol, Benesh was driving on County Road 54 near LeDuc Drive at 4:24 p.m. when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction crossed the center line on the two-lane road and hit him. Benesh, of Hastings, died at the scene.

He was wearing a helmet, the patrol said.

The driver of the other vehicle, William King, 50, of Hastings, was taken to Regina Hospital in Hastings, where he was treated for minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
