Glen Richard Ries of Northfield, Minn., pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree assault for his role in the October 2008 kidnapping, beating and torture of Justin Hamilton, a developmentally disabled Lakeville man.

District Judge Timothy Wermager sentenced Ries, 34, to three years in prison. Prosecutors dropped three other charges against him.

Ries had been accused of driving the truck used in the kidnapping and of providing a baton others used to hit Hamilton. After the attack, Ries lost his job working with developmentally disabled adults in Northfield.

A verdict for Jonathon Michael Diepold, 22, will be given on Oct. 12 in a trial by stipulated facts.
