Swenson, David Erik Age 72, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 with his wife and children at his side. Dave was known for his smile, hugs, sense of humor and love for his family. David, the son of Wendell and Constance Swenson was born on January 29, 1948 in St. Peter, MN. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, MN in 1966. After High School Dave attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he studied Psychology. After graduating from Gustavus, he attended Northwestern Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Dave began his career as a Lutheran Pastor at Richfield Lutheran Church. He continued in his 37 year pastoral career at the following churches: Cross of Life - Brookfield, WI; Good Shepherd - Madison, WI; Lutheran Church of the Cross - St. Petersburg, FL. Throughout his career he worked to spread the Word and be a mentor to many. In his retirement, Dave enjoyed golfing, shelling on the beach, reading books and the newspaper, doing crossword puzzles daily, agate hunting, photography, collecting treasures for his garage and most importantly spending time with his family at the cabin and in Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanne Swenson of St. Petersburg, FL; his children: Josh and his wife Jill Swenson of Eden Prairie, MN; Aaron and his wife Tricia Swenson of Shoreview, MN; and Becky Swenson of Maplewood, MN; four grandchildren: Jacob, Britta, Chloe, and Abigail Swenson; his brother- Norm and his wife Jane Swenson of White Bear Lake, MN; his brother Steve and his wife Mary Swenson of Clearwater, MN; nieces and nephews and many friends. A private celebration of life will be held for family at the family cabin on Sand Lake in Minnesota. Memorials can be made to Gustavus Adolphus College in St Peter, MN or Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake, MN in memory of David Swenson.
