Morken, Dr. Jeffrey John age 51 of Minnetonka, MN, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2021. Born on September 11, 1969 in Rochester, MN, Jeff was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend and physician. He graduated from Pine Island High School and went on to Concordia College where he was also an accomplished pitcher on the Cobber baseball team. He spent a gap year in Beaver Creek, CO developing a love for the mountains and skiing. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota to complete his medical degree. After medical school, Jeff continued his training as a resident and fellow at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he developed a true affinity for being part of a teaching hospital environment. He had a deep love for his family and was a huge supporter of his children's activities, becoming a hockey, baseball and golf dad in the Minnetonka youth and high school programs with the boys, a lacrosse and dance dad for his daughter, and was also known for amazing cameo appearances in TikTok videos with his daughter. He loved spending time with family and friends, whether fat tire biking, snowshoeing, paddle boarding, golfing, or enjoying many other outdoor activities. He had a true affection for spending time at the Lake Latoka cabin where Jeff's eyes lit up and where he always found new energy. Through many bonfires, boat rides, grilled meals or beachside moments, Jeff's true "lake life" spirit was on full display. Jeff also touched lives and connected with people through his professional career as a surgeon and mentor to medical students at Hennepin County Medical Center. His professional expertise was constantly on display, but also was his ability to connect with people, both patients and colleagues. He developed a remarkable presence at the hospital, showing his love for fellow physicians and staff, becoming a beacon of light, humor and song that will be missed in the future. Jeff is survived by his wife Stacey Lervick Morken, their sons Jack and Petter and daughter Britta, mother and father Shirley and David Morken of Pine Island, sister Jera Sorby, her husband John, nephew Cole and niece Kaia of Thompson, ND, along with many relatives, friends and fellow physicians and staff that he has had the pleasure of knowing and growing friendships over the years.
