Chapman, Dr. Lee S. age 84, of Edina, MN, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022, after a valiant fight with Alzheimer's Disease/Lewy Body Dementia. He was preceded in death by parents Walter Lee Chapman and Alice Schoening Chapman. Lee was born on August 30, 1937, in Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School in 1955. He was a proud member of the 1955 State Championship Basketball Team, where he earned the nickname of "Leapin Lee." He graduated from the Univ. of MN School of Dentistry with a Master's Degree specializing in orthodontics. After serving in the military, he started his practice in Edina, where he worked for 35 years. He loved his profession, and up until his passing, he had patients who still remembered him as their orthodontist and greeted him with their smiles. He loved golf and traveled with his buddies playing as many of the Top 100 Golf Courses as possible in the U.S. He could often be seen on the practice range in search of developing the perfect swing. Lee, along with his wife, Sandy, were avid travelers, and in his later years, he checked the final two items off his bucket list with a family golf trip to Ireland and Scotland. He enjoyed spending many spring breaks on Sanibel Island, summers at the cabin, ski trips to Vail and was proud that he had visited 49 out of the 50 states. He was a master "fix-it" man, loved to remodel homes, and cherished his time spent at Bible Study groups and his grandchildens' activities. But, most of all, he was a loving husband to Sandra (Cesarek) Chapman for 60 years, a devoted father to Wally (Eva), Julie (Danny), and Jay (Angie), a loyal brother to Walter "Brick" Chapman (Lockie) and Laurie Chapman (John Hall) and a caring uncle and friend to many. He was also the proud "Pop Pop" to 12 grandchildren: Blake, Abbey, Izzey, Stephanie, Jenny, Christie, Jack, Marty, Ellie, Lucy, Skylar, and Brooke. Our family is deeply grateful to Dr. Ronald Petersen at the Mayo Clinic, the amazing staff at the Friendship Village Health Center, Methodist Hospital Hospice, NC Little Hospice, and Pastor Rich Phenow, who has walked with our family throughout the years. A celebration of life will take place on March 7, 2022, at Woodale Church, Eden Prairie: visitation at 10 am, service at 11 am with reception to follow. Private interment.
