Basta, James "Jim" Age 82 of St. Paul, passed away suddenly February 24, 2022. Jim grew up in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul, and would go on to graduate from Cretin High School. He operated the Italian Pie Shoppe in St. Paul and Eagan, as well as many other business ventures. A lifelong musician, Jim started on the accordion and moved on to the Hammond organ. He also loved boating the St. Croix with his family. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jim Jr.; grandson, Tony; and sister, Rita. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosie; children, Linda Vasquez and Michael (Susie); daughter in law, Michelle; brothers, Joseph (Robin) and John; grandchildren, Nicholas, Angela, Michael, Britney, and Nicole; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family, friends, and business associates. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM with a gathering of family and friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Ave., St. Paul.
