Ochs, Clayton W. age 100, finished the race on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, joining Barbara, his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, who died on May 25, 2017. We will miss him so very, very much. Clayton was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a true gentleman, never complaining, always generous. The love he generated at his nursing home never ceased to amaze us. The family is very grateful for the wonderful staff and caregivers at St. Anthony Park Home in St.Paul. Clayton, the oldest of 10 children, was born on June 11, 1922 in Albert Lea, MN. At the outbreak of WWII, Clayt enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a radar mechanic in the Italian Theater from Sept. 1942 to Jan. 1945. After the close of the war, Clayt took advantage of the GI Bill, graduating from the U of M with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began a long career at Northern States Power Co., currently Xcel Energy. Clayt met and married the love of his life, Barbara Busher, on June 19, 1947. The couple moved to Bloomington in 1954, where they raised four children. Clayton had a rich life, enjoying family, travel, golf, bowling, bridge, and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Survived by son, Clayton H. (Diane) Ochs, daughters Kathy (Jack) Herb, Linda (Michael) Johnson, Paulette Prentice; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; siblings David (Joy) Ochs, Richard (Barb) Ochs, Gayle (Paul) Olson, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held for immediate family in August.
