Rollie had a great sense of humor and may get the last laugh with his obituary. He took his final bow and exited life on March 22, 2023 in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Rollie was the youngest of three sons born to the late Ralph and Mabel (Gamber) on November 16, 1936 in Pipestone, MN. Since he was born during the great depression he often said, "There was simply nothing else to do!" Being the youngest of three boys may be where his love of playing a good prank started. He loved to honk the horn when you passed in front of the car and liked to watch you jump sky high in fright. One of his most vivid memories of pranks included him wearing a scary mask at Halloween and answering the door when his daughter and friends were trick or treating. They were so scared they nearly peed their pants. After Rollie graduated from High School he joined the National Guards where he was a member for three years. He would meet his future wife, Charlene at a basketball game. A cute Scandinavian girl from North Dakota caught his eye and they married in 1964. He started out farming and also worked as a bartender part time. They had one perfect daughter and she was so perfect in their eyes they chose to not give her any siblings. Four years later they ventured to the twin cities where Rollie started working for the State of Minnesota as a driver examiner and later as a driver evaluator. Finishing his career as head driver evaluator and retired in 1999. His beloved wife, Charlene would pass away in 2004. After her death he would later return to a high school reunion where he struck up a conversation with a schoolmate, Mary. It seemed they really liked each other as he moved from Minnesota and she from California and they landed in North Las Vegas where they married and lived until Rollie's death. Rollie is preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene and many friends and relatives. Yes, he out lived most of them! He is survived by his second wife, Mary, his daughter, Lynn(Kevin), grandsons Steven and Ryan, and granddaughters, Emily(Brett) and Abbey. We will miss his Ole and Lena jokes, funny stories, his charismatic personality and forever grateful for his life long generosity. A private family graveside service at Trotsky cemetery is planned for May 13, 2023. Arrangements made by Hartquist Funeral Home in Pipestone, Mn. The best way you can honor Rollie's memory is by telling a funny story or sharing one of his favorite drinks, a brandy. Make a toast in his honor. "The sands of time will never wash away the love that I have for you. Your sweet memory will remain forever in my heart. " Louis Hay, author.
