Gordon, Jonathan Richard With gratefulness for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Jonathan Richard Gordon, of Minnetonka, on February 13, 2024. Jon was born in Montreal, Quebec to Robert and June Gordon, the second of three children. He graduated from South Broward High School in Hollywood, FL and went on to receive his BSBA degree from Babson College in Wellesley, MA, and his MBA from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. He found his professional calling as a CPA working in Minneapolis, MN. Jon was passionate about civic engagement with a strong belief in philanthropy and community service. Leading with integrity, Jon served on the board of directors for several organizations including Sholom Home Foundation, Sholom Community Alliance, Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, and True Friends. He was particularly active with True Friends later in life, playing a pivotal role in acquiring and uniting summer camps for children with disabilities. Jon was happiest on the move and was often found behind the wheel of a fine German-engineered automobile, because a car that got you from here to there, just didn't go far enough for Jon. His wit was unmatched, and his well-timed observations were, lo and behold, always a delight to those in his company. Predeceased by grandparents Abraham and Alice Mailman of Hollywood, FL, Nick Gordon of Miami, FL, and Evelyn Gordon of Miami, FL; brother Spencer Gordon of Miami, FL; sister-in-law Nancy Geltman Shiller; and beloved St. Bernard "Baby". Jon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Geltman Gordon; siblings Jill (Hon. Robert) Mark of Miami, FL and Richard (Suzi) Gordon of Gulf Breeze, FL; son Thomas Jared "T.J." (Terri) Gordon of Highland Park, IL; daughters Kate (Matthew) Liegel and Elizabeth Gordon of Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren Olivia and Jack Gordon and Madeline and Elodie Liegel; bonus children Robert (Christine) Shiller of Littleton, CO and Betsy (Noel) Hara of Northbrook, IL; bonus grandchildren Nathan and Jordan Hara, Samuel and Gabrielle Shiller; caring nanny of 37 years Jude Mitchell; and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. With his innate capacity for kindness, he forged strong friendships that endured throughout his lifetime. His treasured family and friends were the light of his life. Funeral service 1:00pm THURSDAY February 15th at Temple Israel, 2323 Fremont Ave. S., Minneapolis and available via Zoom at hodroffs.com/… SHIVA will be held at Temple Israel that evening at 6:30pm.
