Morrison, Richard Robert was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on May 26, 1949, and died on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, on March 21, 2024, following eight months of treatment for esophageal cancer. Rick was raised in Duluth, MN, and resided in St. Paul, MN. He attended Duluth East High School, Macalester College, and the University of Minnesota. He retired in 2010 after a long career in IT/systems development. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Morrison; father, Miles Morrison; and step-sister, Milene Sower. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Claire Hoyum of St. Paul; son, Samuel Hoyum Morrison of Brooklyn, NY; step-sister, Patricia Anderson of Duluth; brothers-in-law George (Leslee Lane) Hoyum of Rockford, MN, and Charles Hoyum (Eileen Roberts) of Edina, MN; four nieces and their families; and many friends. Rick was loved for his dry wit, his devotion to family and close friends, and his tender care for animals, including his four Welsh terriers and numerous foster dogs. He was an avid reader, a lover of music, and a life-master bridge player. Memorial service Wednesday, June 12, 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Avenue South, St. Paul, and livestreamed on gloriadeistpaul.org. Visitation at 10 a.m. at the church.
