Wilson, Ralph D. 90, of Edina passed away on June 1, 2024. Born in Marathon, Iowa on March 24, 1934, he was the ninth of William and Helen Wilson's eleven children. Ralph grew up on a farm near Ames, Iowa, graduated from Iowa State with an agricultural engineering degree, and later earned a business degree from the University of Minnesota. He worked for over 30 years as a mechanical engineer for Donaldson Co. Inc. in Bloomington, MN. Ralph was a longtime resident of southwest Minneapolis and a member of Lake Harriet United Methodist Church. Ralph was a regular morning runner at Lake Harriet. He completed 67 marathons, including the Boston marathon twice and the Twin Cities and Grandmas marathons numerous times. He finished his last marathon at the age of 79. He was a loyal fan of the Twins, Vikings, Gophers, and especially the Iowa State Cyclones. Ralph enjoyed reading, traveling, skiing, biking, and sailing. He liked tractors, cars, and anything mechanical. Ralph is survived by his wife Ardith, sons Peter (Annikka) and David (Corryn), grandchildren Avery, Sydney, Bennett, and Hannah, sister Carol Alleman (Madrid, Iowa), brother James (El Segundo, CA), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings (Floyd Wilson, Leon Wilson, Clyde Wilson, Florence Wilson, Ruth Schonhorst, Vera Schreiner, Martha Claveria, and Wayne Wilson). Celebration of Life will be at Lake Harriet Methodist Church (4901 Chowen Ave. S.) at 1:00 PM on June 29, visitation one hour prior to service.
