Bruce was the first son of Leonard and Elveria Hofstad. Born on March 19, 1939 in Chicago. He grew up in Mpls and attended South High School. After graduating Bruce was a driver for UPS before beginning his career working for the City of Minneapolis as a Water Department Supervisor. On April 7, 1961 Bruce married Betty Schuffenhauer and together they had 3 children, Randy, Cheri and David. Bruce was an avid sports lover and acted as a coach for all of his children's various sports teams while they were young. Bruce was always the most charming person in the room quick to have a joke or a story ready for the telling. Bruce is preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents Leonard and Elveria, brother Mark, and son-in-law Thomas Kamp. Bruce is survived by his 3 children, Randy (Angie) Hofstad, Cheri Kamp, and David (Anne) Hofstad; 8 grandchildren, Mariah Hofstad, Josh Hofstad, Maddie (Josh) Espinosa, Sydney (Ian) Eliason, Haley (Dylan) Olson, Alexa (Chris) Fischer, Ellery (Chase) Woods, and Nicholas Hofstad; 6 great-grandchildren, Emmett, Greyson, Theodore, Arya, Elveria, and Rory; friend Judy Shea; his dog Gerti; all of his dear friends and the care team at Prairie Bluffs Assisted Living. Memorial service will be held Monday, June 24 at 11 AM in the morning at Hillside Chapel located at 2610 19th Ave NE. There will be a visitation prior at 10 AM and a lunch reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Bruce's memory.
