Born in Duluth, Audy graduated from St. Paul Central High School and the University of Minnesota. A Spanish Studies major, Audy married Bob at the age of 20 while still enrolled in school. At midlife she returned to the U to pursue an MSW degree. For over 20 years she worked as a social worker in the Minneapolis Public Schools, serving the greatest number of those years at Dowling School. She served as president of Minnesota School Social Workers Association (MSSWA) in 1989-'90. Audy believed in making a difference, and she worked hard to support children living in poverty or facing abuse. For years she played an active role in TCIP, the U of M-affiliated Twin Cities International Program, which brought social workers from around the world to observe the work of agencies in Minneapolis and two other cities in the U.S. She served on the board of ARC Minneapolis and the Animal Humane Society, and volunteered for numerous other organizations throughout her life. Audy had a great love of the outdoors, with a special fondness for the North Woods of MN and WI. She had a deep sense of curiosity and adventure, and loved traveling with her husband and friends all over the country and the world. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 23, at 11:30, at Temple Israel, 2324 Emerson Ave. So, Minneapolis. Shiva will be held June 24, at 6 pm, also at Temple Israel. Special thanks to Barb, Pam, the care attendants from English Rose Suites, and the Health Partners Hospice staff.
