Becker, Sajun David (Rude) sadly transitioned from his earthly body on June 17, 2024 at 11:55 pm. He courageously fought brain cancer for over a year. His pain is over and he released his physical body which has betrayed him for far too long. He is free. Sajun is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Rude; grandfather, Stephen C. Becker; many great- grandparents; good friends, Dean Garetson and Bob Gallagher; and a revered pack of four- legged friends. He is survived by his mother, Julie Becker (Jesus Felix); stepfather, Ryan Colby; brothers, Lowell and Malachi; partner, Lauren Higman; grandmothers, Jo Doig, and Jill Levy; and a slew of beloved extended family. Although his entire family and community are gutted, we take great comfort in knowing he is now traveling in the great unknown. Sajun was a wise and kindhearted soul. Here is but a brief snapshot of his favorite things: his family, pizza, reading, the forest, fantasy, movies, magic, Halloween, autumn, and current events. Although Sajun was serious in many ways, he was also hilarious and among his favorite things were deep belly laughs with his brothers and best friend, Sam. He also loved deep conversations with his lifelong friend, Eric. Sajun and his partner, Lauren planned to move to the magical city of Duluth, so that is where he will lay his bones to rest eternally. Sajun entered the world on October 1, 1993, under a Harvest Moon and was born at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he received the majority of his medical care during his battle with cancer. Sajun loved all things fantasy and magical from the time he could walk. He was drawn to the old ways and was wise beyond his years. His appreciation for history, reading and writing was evident very early on. Sajun was the apple of his mother's eye. She adored him beyond measure and will miss him until the end of her days. Sajun has two younger brothers, Lowell (17) and Malachi (14), that he was incredibly close to. They had a powerful bond that will transcend time and space. Sajun was adored and cherished by his brothers and the feeling was mutual. After graduating Southwest High School In Minneapolis, Sajun ventured to the Pacific Northwest for college at Evergreen. The trees, ferns, moss and beauty of the Pacific Northwest deeply intrigued him and he heeded their call. It was there that he met his forever love, Lauren. Lauren stood by Sajun in the spirit of unconditional love during his challenging cancer journey. She holds an incredibly powerful place in so many of our hearts. Her unwavering commitment continues to inspire us. Sajun remained in WA for a while but he and Lauren returned to Northeast Minneapolis, where they lived and loved until his life was tragically cut short. During this time, Sajun's creativity and imagination blossomed exponentially. He was an extremely gifted writer and artist. He also was very inspired by politics and was very pro-union. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Minneapolis Fire Foundation minneapolisfirefoundation.org. The fire department was a critical resource for us and their mission is congruent with Sajun's beliefs. Sajun will spend the rest of his days in Duluth at Temple Emanuel Cemetery. In accordance with Jewish tradition, his funeral took place prior to this posting. He was buried Wednesday in Duluth. A memorial service will take place on THURSDAY, June 20th, from 4-7 pm at Diane's Place at 117 14th Avenue NE, Mpls, MN 55413 and all who loved him or want to support our ecosystem during this challenging time are welcome to come. Love each other a little bit harder, get lost in the forest, and never give up on believing in magic. Sajun is our forever hero. Hodroff-Epstein 612-871-1234 hodroffepstein.com
