Prohofsky, Edward "Ed" Gerald born April 20, 1934, passed away on June 24, 2024, having reached his goal of 90 years. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Abel and Adeline Prohofsky; brother, William; great-nephew, Maxwell; and the love of his life, Joyce. He led an exemplary life, always an educator and coach, there is truly no "I" in team and he made sure that everyone was welcome and included. From his early days of coaching his 4th Army team to the division championship, to opening the doors of inclusivity for kids with physical and mental differences to participate alongside their peers in athletics, right up to including adapted sports as a sanctioned activity by the Minnesota State High School League, allowing them to proudly letter in their sports just like everybody else. He enjoyed success on the court, with his fabled Marshall-University High School Championship team, to college basketball and the pros with the Timberwolves and the Lynx. He was inducted into seven Halls of Fame. With all his success he remained humble. The first thing he said to people he met and spoke with later in life was, 'if everyone had a family like mine, there would be no problems in the world.' It is difficult to sum up the life of a man who made a difference to so many. He is survived by his sister, DeDe Armel (Stephanie and Michael and their families); children, Richard (Jodi and Ian), Sheri (Paul, Haley, Anthony, Mickey, Danny and Rebecca), Suzy (Brian, Mathew and Justin) Pamela (Howard, Sam and Annalee); Nephew and Niece, Lee (Juliana, Nathaniel and Naomi) and Jill (Mike and Alex) who will all miss him dearly.
