Columbus, Ohio – The Gophers women's basketball team suffered its second consecutive blowout loss, falling 99-76 to Ohio State on Thursday night at Value City Arena.

The Gophers nearly gave up 100 points for the first time since losing to Oregon 101-73 in the NCAA tournament on March 18, 2018 — Marlene Stollings' last game as coach. They have lost their past two games by a combined 48 points.

Minnesota (15-10, 5-9 Big Ten) has lost seven in a row to Ohio State (15-9, 8-5) and dropped to 3-28 all-time against the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Unfortunately for the Gophers, the schedule does not let up. Their final four regular-season games are at Michigan State, vs. No. 20 Indiana, at No. 17 Iowa and vs. No. 10 Maryland.

The deficit could have been worse Thursday had the Gophers not made 31 of 35 free-throw attempts.

Ohio State, which has won four in a row, pounded the Gophers inside and out. The Buckeyes had 42 points in the paint and shot 10-for-23 from three-point range. They shot 55.7% from the field overall. The Gophers shot 31.1%.

Ohio State freshman Madison Greene had a career-high 25 points and adde seven assists.

The teams were tied at 24-24 after the first quarter, but the Gophers fell behind by double digits in the second quarter and never got closer than six points the rest of the game. At one point in the second half they missed 17 of 18 field-goal attempts.

Gophers freshman Jamsine Powell had her third consecutive game of 20 or more points (21), making 14 of 15 free throws, but she also had five first-half turnovers. Four other players scored in double figures, including Gadiva Hubbard, who passed 1,000th points for her career.

Jasmine Brunson returned to action for the Gophers; she missed two games after taking an elbow to the jaw against Rutgers. Brunson scored five points off the bench.
