A head-on collision on a southwestern Minnesota highway has left both drivers dead, authorities said Tuesday.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Monday on Hwy. 59 in Avoca, the State Patrol said.

Alexander J. Bretsch, 26, of Frederick, S.D., was heading north in his pickup truck and collided with a southbound car being driven by Kyle R. Thompson, 37, of Huron, S.D.

The patrol has yet to say which vehicle strayed over the centerline.
