A Granite Falls, Minn., woman was shot to death in her home about 3:30 a.m. Monday and her boyfriend critically wounded, officials said.

The public's help is sought in finding Andrew J. Dikken, 28, of Granite Falls, who has been identified as a "person of interest" in the shooting on the 1100 block of Prentice Street. Police said Dikken is believed to armed and driving a brown 1996 GMC Sierra club-cab pickup with a topper and a Minnesota license plate 032-GGL.

"This is an incredibly violent and unfortunate thing," said Mayor Dave Smiglewski. "To break into somebody's house in the middle of the night. … People are upset around town. " The last homicide he could recall was about 10 years ago.

He said that the victim is Dikken's ex-girlfriend, Kara Monson, 26, and that she has a preschool-age daughter who was with her father for the weekend.

Anyone with information can call the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office at 1-320-564-2130.
