CHICAGO -- The Twins will have two more newcomers today for the series finale against the White Sox, as outfielder Ben Revere and infielder Trevor Plouffe join the team from Class AAA Rochester.
Jim Thome (strained oblique muscle) and Jason Repko (strained quadriceps muscle) have been placed on the 15-day DL.
The Twins have now promoted nine players from Rochester this season. And it's only May 4.
Revere and Plouffe had a flight delay and weren't expected to land at O'Hare airport until 11 a.m. Otherwise, it sounded like Plouffe would have been in the starting lineup.
Manager Ron Gardenhire did say that he intends to give Plouffe regular playing time while he's here.
The Twins will be trying to build on Francisco Liriano's no-hitter in the final game of this two-game series.
Update: The Twins haven't decided whether Liriano's next start will be Monday against the Red Sox or Tuesday against the Tigers. They can let Nick Blackburn pitch Monday on regular rest and give Liriano six days between starts after he matched a career high with 123 pitches Monday.
Monday's game at Fenway Park will be televised on ESPN, and apparently the network was all excited about promoting that game with Liriano in it, but the Twins aren't going to let that sway their decision.
