Prep sports roundup: Roseville upsets Cretin-Derham Hall in girls' hockey

Madison Gaffney had a hat trick in a four-goal second period as Roseville upset Class 2A, No. 7 Cretin-Derham Hall. Teammate Michaela Arnold added a goal and assist in the period. Maddison Lehto was superb in goal for Roseville, turning aside 39 of 40 shots.

Red Wing 12, Mankato West 0: Taylor Heise had four goals and three assists as the Class 1A, No. 8 Wingers beat the Scarlets. Maria Haley and Nicole Oberding also had hat tricks for Red Wing.

Boys' hockey

Burnsville 5, Lakeville North 2: Roman Ahcan scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Blaze to a come-from-behind upset of the Class 2A, No. 6 Panthers. Lakeville North led 2-0 after the first period.

St. Thomas Academy 6, Henry Sibley 1: Charlie Harrity made 67 saves, but it wasn't enough for the Warriors against the Class 2A, No. 10 Cadets. Willie Reim had two goals and an assist for St. Thomas Academy.

Boys' basketball

Border Battle: Gophers recruit Daniel Oturu had 30 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots as Class 4A, No. 7 Cretin-Derham Hall outlasted Stevens Point (Wis.) 71-68. ... Gabe Kalscheur (25) and Goanar Mar (21) teamed for 46 points as Class 3A, No. 1 DeLaSalle topped Kaukauna (Wis.) 97-65. ... JaVonni Bickham is making his presence felt since returning to the Minnehaha Academy lineup. The junior forward scored 30 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, leading the Class 2A, No. 1 Redhawks past Prescott (Wis.) 81-73. Bickham missed a little more than a month because of a broken hand. ... Jordan Horn scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the first half, lifting Class 4A, No. 10 Tartan over Whitefish Bay (Wis.) 80-53.

Minneapolis North 74, Caledonia 70: Isaac Johnson scored 26 points as the Class 1A, No. 1 Polars held on to beat the Class 2A, No. 2 Warriors.
