Prince's Myth shows come true
Prince's Myth shows come true
Being on the opposite end of the metro area from his Chanhassen headquarters might have mattered to his audience, but not to Prince. "Hometown!" the petite Minnesota music giant yelled as he took the stage Saturday at the Myth megaclub in Maplewood for his first of two shows in one night. The concerts were the rare non-sellouts for Prince, even after slashing tickets from $259 to $99-$159. He certainly didn't give the 2,500 or so fans a cut-rate performance, though, opening with a head-banging "Let's Go Crazy" — his new all-female backing trio 3rdEyeGirl is heaviest ever — and including "Sign o' the Times," "When Doves Cry" and "Purple Rain" alongside new songs "Screwdriver" and "Fixupurlife." At left, Kii Arens, sporting his Prince jacket, looked for his friends in the crowd before the concert.
