Ramsey County Sheriff-elect Bob Fletcher has been fined $500 for not correctly labeling more than 1,200 lawn signs and other campaign materials.

In an order filed Thursday by the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings, Fletcher interchanged the name of his committee on various campaign materials, a violation of the Fair Campaign Practices Act.

When Fletcher filed to run in the November election, he identified his committee as "Bob Fletcher for Sheriff Committee."

His campaign material said, "Bob Fletcher for Ramsey County Committee."

All campaign material must include a disclaimer identifying the name and address of the person or committee that prepared the materials, according to the order.

Fletcher defeated incumbent Jack Serier for the sheriff's job in November. This past summer, Fletcher accused Serier of living outside of the county when he was appointed sheriff.

Fletcher has until Jan. 18 to pay the fine.
