Hair salon company Regis Corp. posted disappointing second-quarter results Wednesday, blaming a slow November and bad weather in December as it missed analysts' earnings estimates.

The Edina-based company earned $14.5 million, down 20 percent from the year-ago period. Earnings per share of 24 cents included a penny-a-share charge for the company's initiative to explore a sale or other strategic alternatives. Analysts had been expecting 28 cents a share.
