COREL VIDEOSTUDIO ULTIMATE X10 $99.99
Taking moviemaking to the next level

There's no shortage of movie-editing software begging to be downloaded, but Corel VideoStudio Ultimat X10 is a scene stealer.

Like most video-editing software, VideoStudio displays a home screen with a library where footage and transitions are grouped. A timeline is below the library, where film is actually edited. Unlike many other systems, it allows you to mix footage from multiple cameras. That means you can shoot the same scene from different angles.

There are thousands of effects, transitions and animated titles that are easily integrated into movies. Video- Studio has screen capture, which allows for mixing scenes from another video with the movie being edited. Time-remapping allows you to freeze-frame and go backward and forward until you've achieved the timeline effect you want.

Once you master the video components, it's fairly easy to add music tracks. Since there's a double-track voice feature, it's possible to lower the volume of music, for example, while making voice-over the dominant sound source.

There's also stop-motion editing, along with slow-motion and fast-motion.

When you finish your movie, a utility that's included, MyDVD, helps transfer the movie to a DVD or a PC, and prepares it for uploading to Facebook, YouTube and other social media.

FIRE EMBLEM HEROES FREE
New fantasy game worthy of the brand

Fire Emblem Heroes, one of the newest Nintendo mobile titles, plays very much like an old-school video game. Players are thrown into a medieval-like fantasy world of knights, archers and magic, and tasked with summoning a group of heroes who can help save the world. Different heroes have different skills, and part of the fun is figuring out how to make them work together most effectively. Players can add new heroes by using summoning stones. With the right team assembled, you can soar through grid-based battle against the enemy — in this case a suitably evil bunch of baddies trying to destroy the world. The game is free, but, if you want, you can buy items to help you move along in the game if you want. You can also add friends within the game, which gives you some rewards.
