Rider Cup Opens Friday in Newport, Wales

The 2010 Ryder Cup will be played in Newport, Wales, starting this Friday.Unfortunately, a storm is going to put a damper on first day of action. Then, apowerful Atlantic storm anchored south of Iceland will drag a rain-soaked coldfront through the United Kingdom.

In Newport, a bout of drenching rain and a gusty southerly wind will accompanythe cold front. Depending on the timing of the front, it is possible that rainwould yield to showers or end altogether during the afternoon.

Since the onset of the tournament Team United States has won 25 Ryder Cups,lost 10 and tied two.
