DES MOINES – Jhoan Duran, a 6-5, 230-pound righthander, made his second start for the St. Paul Saints on Thursday and was impressive in their 4-2 comeback win over the Iowa Cubs when they scored three runs in the ninth.
Saints rally to win behind Jhoan Duran's pitching, Tze-Wei Lin's hitting
In four innings — one more than in his first appearance — Duran allowed only one hit, struck out eight and walked two. That's an improvement from five days ago when the native of Esperanza, Dominican Republic, gave up one run on four hits, struck out six and walked one.
The Saints had eight hits against Iowa. JT Riddle and Tze-Wei Lin each had three hits. Among Lin's were RBI singles in the fifth and ninth innings. After Lin tied the score in the ninth, the Saints got two more runs on a groundout and throwing error by the pitcher.
The Cubs scored their two runs in the sixth on RBI singles by Trayce Thompson and Vance Vizcaino off Lewis Thorpe.
