The Capella Tower lobby in downtown Minneapolis was transformed into a base camp for climbers setting out on their journey to scale the 775-foot building and complete Big Climb Mpls.

The event, a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, is billed as the “tallest indoor chip-timed vertical challenge in the Upper Midwest.”

Participants, including local firefighters toting oxygen tanks, scaled the 1,272 steps to the 53rd floor. A few hardy souls then climbed even higher for a total of 105 floors.
