A 37-year-old Wisconsin man suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon when his vehicle was struck by a semitrailer truck on Interstate 94.

Muhumed F. Noor from Columbus, Ohio, was driving west about 1 p.m. when he approached backed-up traffic on the Hudson Bridge and couldn't stop in time. Noor, 26, made a lane change, hitting a Pontiac Grand Am being driven by 37-year-old Douglas A. Tronrud of Menomonie, Wis., according to the Wisconsin State Patrol. Both the semi and the car then hit the concrete median barrier and the car became pinned on its side between the semitrailer and the median barrier.

When troopers arrived on scene, they communicated with Tronrud and removed him from the vehicle by breaking out the back window. He was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
