Twins update

The Twins (39-50) closed out the pre-All Star game portion of their schedule with a four-game sweep of the Tigers at Target Field. The sweep was the Twins' first four-game sweep since August 2019 at Texas and gave the Twins a 7-2 record against the Tigers this season. ... The Twins, who were winless in their first eight extra-inning games this season, have won five consecutive extra-inning games — their longest winning streak in extra-inning games since 2012. ... Jorge Polanco is batting .351 with three home runs, 14 RBI and a 1.080 OPS in nine games against the Tigers this season.

Tigers update

The Tigers (40-51) had won three consecutive series (six victories in eight games) before being swept by the Twins last weekend. The Tigers, who were 8-19 in April, are 32-32 since May 1. ... Rookie OF Akil Baddoo, who is batting .271 with six home runs and 28 RBI, has two games with three or more RBI this season — both against the Twins. ... 1B Jonathan Schoop, who is hitting .277 with 16 HR and 52 RBI, leads the Tigers with 29 multi-hit games this season.
