Severe thunderstorms, sparking along the rim of excessive heat and humidity,will erupt in a lengthy corridor over the midsector to the Eastern Seaboard onMonday into Monday night. The at-risk corridor will stretch from the centraland south-central Plains through the Midwest to the central Appalachians andeven the mid-Atlantic.The stores of heat and humidity flowing in from the south will instigatepotential damaging winds and flooding rain in the stronger thunderstorms. Windsgusting to at least 60 mph will be unleashed in stronger storms. Rainfall mayreach 1-2 inches within one hour. Isolated hail will be possible and a tornadoor two cannot be ruled out in the most extreme instances.
Some bigger cities in and near the swathe of strongest storms will be Wichita,Kansas City, Saint Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Columbus, Cleveland,Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Rochester.
