Former Vikings safety just made his ninth pick of the season in a game against the Bucs

NEW ORLEANS -- Hello from the Superdome.

I'm here to do a couple of stories on the Saints. I thought I'd update you from the first quarter of play against a Tampa Bay team that looks like it's ready for the offseason to start ASAP.

Saints safety and former Viking Darren Sharper just interecepted a badly overthrown pass by rookie Josh Freeman. With a 21-yard return, Sharper set an NFL record for most interception return yards in a season. He has 376 yards on nine interceptions. The old record was 358 yards set by Baltimore's Ed Reed in 2004.

Sharper's pick gives him 63 for his career, tying Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott for sixth in NFL history.

Six plays after Sharp's pick, the Saints took a 14-0 lead on a 30-yard pass from Drew Brees to Robert Meachem.

Looks like the game is over with 1:32 left in the first quarter.
